Conceived by award winning producer and writer Greg Thompson, the script has been painstakingly researched from hundreds of quotes from Marilyn herself and the result is two hours in Marilyn’s presence. The show delicately balances a rags-to-riches tale with a musical autobiography by revealing the troubled, insecure woman hiding behind the sex symbol. Sunny Thompson as Marilyn sings pieces from Monroe’s films without backing orchestra or musical accompaniment, revealing a haunting sense of the sadness that underlies much of her rise to stardom.
